New Databases

As of July 2 the Graduate Center has access to several new electronic resources. The 17th-18th Century Burney Collection Newspapers represents the largest and most comprehensive collection of early English news media, charting the development of newspapers, the free press, and the concept of news and totaling almost one-million pages and approximately 1,270 titles. National Geographic Archive offers all content from 1888 through 1994. (Content from April 2005 until three months ago is freely available.) PsycTests offers the full text of psychological tests and measures as well as a source of structured information about tests of relevance to psychologists and professionals in related fields. Uncheck the APA Handbooks box to search only PsycTests. APA Handbooks provides the full text of the American Psychological Association handbooks in educational psychology, ethics in psychology, industrial and organizational psychology, and research methods in psychology. Use the Browse function to examine available titles. Uncheck the PsycTests box to search only APA Handbooks. Cambridge Collections Online provides full text of the Cambridge University Press companions to literature and the classics, music, and philosophy, religion, and culture. In addition, Eighteenth Century Collection Online (ECCO) contains an additional 30,000 titles, bringing the total to 180,000 books, and Making of the Modern World has an additional 7,000 titles, bringing the total to 62,400.
