JSTOR introduced a new search interface on August 25 but unfortunately created a problem. Searches include content for which the Graduate Center does not have access. In both search results and browsing by title and discipline, green-and-white check marks appear beside accessible content and gray-and-white asterisks beside inaccessible content. To avoid seeing inaccessible content, place a check mark in the include only content I can access box on the search screen or select the Only content I can access link in the search results. JSTOR is working to eliminate this problem.
UPDATE 9/2/10:
In response to complaints about the new interface, JSTOR has scheduled an update for today, September 2. Beginning today, the default option for authenticated users on all search forms will be to search licensed content only.
