The library is happy to offer a new service that simplifies the remote access process to library electronic resources for the Graduate Center Community, the Graduate Center Library Proxy Server. Graduate Center Faculty, Students, and Staff can now get off-campus access to almost all of our library electronic resources using their Graduate Center Computer Account and a web browser. This new service requires no installation of additional software.
You can start using it now through the library database listings, please read the service description for further information. Please let us know what you think of this new service and about any problems or questions that come up during your use of it.

I cannot seem to gain access to the server.
Please advice.

Hi Nancy,
You need to use your Graduate Center computer account information to login to the proxy server. Please review the different scenarios for GC accounts at http://library.gc.cuny.edu/using-the-library/remote-access/ under the heading “Using your Graduate Center Computer Account”, decide which category you fall under and take the recommended action. Contact me at kreiss@gc.cuny.edu if you need further explanation of these instructions.
Can you tell me how to get a computer account so that I can login to the proxy server.

If you have a GC appointment you are eligible to use the proxy server. All individuals with GC appointments should have had a GC account created for them automatically at the start of their appointment. However if you have been with the GC for awhile and have never used your account you will not be able to get into the system because if a GC account is not used for 180 days it goes into inactive status. You need to contact our Information Technology Helpdesk at (212) 817-7300 or helpdesk@gc.cuny.edu in order to discuss how to get your account back into active status. Typically your username will be the first initial of your first name combined with your last name, but you will need to contact the helpdesk to confirm the username and make arrangements to reset your password.
Thanks for doing this. Works great from home!! A lot easier than Citrix and works well through Firefox.
