Copyright and Students
- Students are the copyright holders of all their works (papers, projects, email, etc.).
- If a student is employed, the academic institution holds copyright to anything the student creates within the scope of employment.
- Students are solely responsible and liable for the content of their web pages.
- Most email, web pages, and computer files are copyrighted. Unauthorized use of text, images, or coding from these sources infringes on the rights of the copyright owner.
- Students may find protection to use copyrighted materials without permission under the fair use provisions of the copyright act. However, a non-profit, educational purpose does not automatically ensure protection.
