Copyright and Students

Back to Copyright Home
  1. Students are the copyright holders of all their works (papers, projects, email, etc.).
  2. If a student is employed, the academic institution holds copyright to anything the student creates within the scope of employment.
  3. Students are solely responsible and liable for the content of their web pages.
  4. Most email, web pages, and computer files are copyrighted. Unauthorized use of text, images, or coding from these sources infringes on the rights of the copyright owner.
  5. Students may find protection to use copyrighted materials without permission under the fair use provisions of the copyright act. However, a non-profit, educational purpose does not automatically ensure protection.
