Format/Style cont'd
Fonts
- Use standard fonts such as Times New Roman, Arial, Courier, Helvetica, and Symbol or ZapfDingbats.
- The type size should be at least 12 point; the larger type is recommended since the manuscript will be reduced in size on microfilm.
- If you use any unusual fonts, be sure to use embeddable Type 1 or TrueType fonts.
Footnotes
Footnotes should be single-spaced at the bottom of the appropriate page to facilitate reading of microfilm. If your discipline prefers, notes may be arranged as notes at the end of each chapter; in that case, each note should be single-spaced, with double-spacing between notes.
Graphics
-
It is best to scan illustrations and photographs as EPS (Encapsulated PostScript) files rather than as bitmaps, GIFs, or JPEG Images using a high resolution such as 600-dpi.
- Avoid using graphic editors that are a part of a word processor.- Graphics should fit within margins.
- Large graphics files (i.e. files exceeding 100 mg) should be submitted separately on a CD or DVD
Margins
- Margins on top, bottom, and right of the page are 1 inch minimum
- left margin must be 1.5 inches minimum.
Music Scores
Scores should be submitted in print and in pdf format.
