Watch a video clip of ERes file transfer

Search CUNY+ for article in GC collection

  1. from CUNY+, select Graduate Center holdings only
  2. search journal title
  3. if journal article is owned by the Grad Center in CUNY+, then OK by CUNY copyright guidelines to scan article for reserve
  4. if article is not owned by the Grad Center in CUNY+, then OK to scan article for ERes 1 semester only pending faculty copyright clearance
  5. Scan and save
  6. If necessary, convert files to .pdf format using free PDF converter software, such as PrimoPDF http://www.primopdf.com.
  7. Also possible to convert text and image files to .pdf by faxing the files to 212-817-1603 Fax Documents to ERes

Transferring files to ERes

  1. Go to ERes
  2. Click "Instructor Login". Use the ERes personal login and password supplied by the library. If you do not have one, email library-reserves@gc.cuny.edu.
  3. Click "Course Reserve Pages"
  4. Find course by name, department, or instructor
  5. eres_search
    This screen shows the options to search for a page.

  6. Double click on course page name
  7. A copyright statement will appear. If appropriate, click on the "Accept" button.
  8. Course Page menu (below) will appear. Make sure the "Page Management" tab is selected.

  10. Select "Documents & Copyright".
  11. A new window will open. Select "Add a Document".
  12. Select "Add a New Document"
  13. A dialog box will appear. Enter a description and a title, then click on the "save" button.

  15. Select "Transfer File(s) to Server,"

    Click on this icon to start the file transfer

  17. A browse window will appear. Search for your file on your local computer. When you have found the file select "Upload".
  18. If you are successful you will see a message appear in the browse window. Success! Your files have been uploaded to your staging area; it is now safe to close this window.

  20. Find the file listing. It should have a paperclip icon next to it. Click on paperclip icon to attach the file to the page.

    Files to be transferred to the server are on the right hand side of the display. Click on the paperclip.

  22. If the file has been successfully moved the listing will move to the left side of the screen.

    The file has been added to your course page.

  24. When the file(s) has been successfully attached to the course page you may close the window.
  25. You may now log out or continue adding more files.

Style Sheet for ERes articles

In the ERes "Document Title" box, enter both the author and title as below. Search documents by author. Lastname, F. I. The title of the article or selection only to the colon

Lastname, F. I., Secondlastname, S. I. The title of the article or selection with two authors

Lastname, F. I., et al. The title of the article or selection with more than two authors

Exceptions:

Enter colon and subtitle if necessary to distinguish one title from another.

Notes:

Put spaces between the initials. Title in lower case except first word and proper names. No period after title.
