A three page report of the Commissioners of the Canal Fund presented to the New York State Legislature In Assembly, January 7, 1820 and submitted by John Tayler, Simeon De Witt, Archibald M'Intyre, Gerrit L. Dox, J. V. N. Yates, and Thomas J. Oakley on January 24, 1820. This is a financial report of the Commissioners of the Canal Fund submitting figures for estimated revenue which is projected to be $187,000. It also indicates receipts and payments for the previous year. In addition to loans and stocks, money was raised for canal construction and upkeep through vendue duties, taxes on salt manufacturing in western New York State and taxes on steamboat passengers traveling the canal.
