Description

Two bank receipts for money deposited into the Commissioners of the Canal fund. Both receipts were drawn on accounts from the Bank of Geneva. On December 25, 1834, Howard A. C. Flagg, Comptroller, deposited $4,115.90 to the credit of the Commissioners of the Canal Fund. On December 27, 1845, Benjamin Enos, Treasurer, deposited $7, 005.71 to the credit of the Commissioners of the Canal Fund. Funding for the Erie Canal did not come from the federal government.
