Instructions

To view DVDs with (non-USA) region codes 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6,
use the Toshiba DVD player. First select Component by
pushing the Source button on the right side of the Samsung TV.

To view PAL VHS (non-US standard), use the Samsung PAL VHS deck (which toggles with the equipment above). Make certain the signal converter deck is on. Select HDMI by pushing the Source button on the right side of the Samsung TV.

To view NTSC video (USA standard), use the JVC DR-MV150 DVD/VHS player. This deck features a running time window and pause buttons. Select AV with the source button on the right side of the Samsung TV.

To use the Mac mini, select PC with the source
button on the right side of the Samsung TV. Headphone jack for the Mac mini is on its
back left corner.
Digitizing DVDs using Eye TV on the
Mac mini
- Open
Eye TV, under Controls select Composite Video Input.
- Using
the JVC DVD/VHS player remote select DVD, then
select section of DVD to be recorded.
- In Eye
TV under Help, click iPod Assistant.
- Title
the movie you are copying.
- Select
approximate time of your source, click Continue.
- When
you see your video, click Continue.
- When
you hear sound through your headphones, click Continue.
- Click
the red button that says Start Recording and begin playing DVD.
- When
you are finished, click Stop Recording, then click Continue.
- Your
video will be exported to iTunes, click Finish.
- Click on the Desktop,
click on All movies to find your video.
- Transfer
your MPEG-4 video file to your flash drive, USB port is on the back of the
Mac mini.
Digitizing VHS using
Eye TV on the Mac mini
- Open
Eye TV, under controls select Composite Video
Input.
- Using
the JVC DVD/VHS remote select VCR, then select section of VHS to be
recorded.
- In Eye
TV under Help, click VHS Assistant.
- Title
movie you are copying.
- Select
approximate time of your source, click Continue.
- When
you see your video, click Continue.
- When
you hear sound through your headphones, click Continue.
- Click
the red button Start Recordingand begin playing VHS.
- When
you are finished, click Stop Recording, then click Continue.
- Choose
what you want to do with the finished recording, burn a DVD using Toast or
export it to iTunes.
Burn a DVD using
Toast
1. Open Toast 9 Basic.
2.
Click
the movie icon, drag your movie from Eye TV to
Toast.
- Insert
blank DVD into Mac mini.
- Click
red button to record disc.
- Click
blue button when finished, name disc, click OK.
- Click
Eject when Toast says Your disc is ready.
Digitize from LPs using
Final Vinyl
- Push
power on the turntable.
- Turn
on the Preamplifier, push the Phono button.
- Open
Final Vinyl, under Preferences-General, select iMic USB audio system.
- Place
LP on the turntable and choose song to record, preview song by clicking on
the speaker icon.
- Record
the song in Final Vinyl by clicking the round record button.
- When
you are done recording the song, click Save As, and save the AIFF file to
the Desktop.
- Open
iTunes.
- Drag
the AIFF file to iTunes, under Advanced, click on
Create AAC version.
- Find
your file in the Desktop under All Documents, MPEG-4 Audio File.
- Create
a new Playlist in iTunes, drag your MPEG-4 file
to the playlist.
- You
can burn a CD in iTunes, or save your MPEG-4 file to a flash drive.
