Register to borrow
Grad Center students take registration and bursar's receipts (or letter from your GC Provost or program Executive Officer) to room 9123, phone x7769, to obtain a CUNY Grad Center photo ID and current semester validation sticker. Students not taking courses but maintaining matriculation must pay registration fees.
Non-GC CUNY students register for or receive CUNY photo ID cards at home institutions. All CUNY students, staff, and faculty may borrow books from all CUNY libraries, except the CUNY School of Law Library; see Borrow, renew, & fines.
CUNY doctoral faculty with single or joint appointments at the Grad Center must take a letter from a GC department Executive Officer or GC Human Resources department to room 9123, phone x 7769, to obtain a CUNY Grad Center photo ID and current semester validation sticker. For loan information see Borrow, renew, & fines.
Bring your current CUNY Grad Center photo ID to the Grad Center library circulation desk, 1st floor. GC library staff will place a barcode on it, allowing you to borrow CUNY books in person or online via CLICS Intra-CUNY borrowing, and create an InterLibrary Loan account. Keep your e-mail current with circulation staff to receive library e-mail notices.
Soon after registration and payment, new CUNY faculty/staff are automatically issued a Grad Center computer network account. Use this login/pwd to get to library databases from off campus. To ensure a GC Network Account, newly appointed GC faculty and staff may bring a letter from a GC department Executive Officer or GC Human Resources department to the IT Help Desk on the Concourse level, phone x 7300, for assistance and instruction.
