CUNY Catalog Down 10 hrs May 26, 6 pm

The Graduate Center has recently added the following resources.

American History in Video has over 1,600 hours of historical video from commercial and governmental newsreels, archival footage, public affairs footage, and important documentaries.

Filmmakers Library Online includes over 1,000 documentaries about race and gender studies, human rights, globalization and global studies, multiculturalism, international relations, criminal justice, the environment, bioethics, health, political science and current events, psychology, arts, literature, and more.

Oxford Scholarly Editions Online provides annotated editions of hundreds of poems, plays, and prose works by English writers 1485-1600. All Oxford University Press resources to which the Graduate Center subscribes may be searched simultaneously in Oxford Index.

Social Theory includes more than 150,000 pages of content by such major theorists as Theodor Adorno, Jean Baudrillard, Simone de Beauvoir, Charlotte Perkins Gilman, Émile Durkheim, Michel Foucault, Jürgen Habermas, Robert Merton, Dorothy E. Smith , and Talcott Parsons.

World History in Video provides more than 900 documentaries exploring human history from the earliest civilizations to the late twentieth century.

New Web of Science Databases

The Graduate Center’s subscription to Web of Science has been expanded to include the following resources.

BIOSIS Citation Index indexes life sciences and biomedical research covering pre-clinical and experimental research, methods and instrumentation, animal studies, and more. Indexes journals, books, meetings, and patents from 1926 to present.

Book Citation Index: Science and Book Citation Index: Social Sciences and Humanities provide citations of book chapters from 2005 to the present.

Current Chemical Reactions covers 1986 to the present.

Current Contents Connect provides complete tables of contents and bibliographic information from the world’s leading scholarly journals and books from 1998 to the present. Also includes relevant, evaluated Web sites and documents.

Data Citation Index offers data studies and data sets from a wide range of international data repositories and connects them with the scientific literature to track data citations.

Derwent Innovations Index provides patent information and patent citations from 1963 to the present.

Index Chemicus covers 1993 to the present.

Zoological Record is the world’s leading taxonomic reference and oldest continuing database of animal biology from 1864 to present.

Current Contents Connect may be searched in its entirety or by discipline: Agriculture, Biology, and Environmental Sciences; Arts and Humanities; Business; Clinical Medicine; Electronics and Telecommunications; Engineering, Computing, and Technology; Life Sciences; Physical, Chemical, and Earth Sciences; and Social and Behavioral Sciences.

New Database Trials

The Graduate Center has a trial through May 31 to Gateway to North America: People, Places,and Organizations of 19th Century New York. This resource, drawn from the collections of the New York Historical Society, offers over 1,500 residential and business directories, organization records, urban guidebooks, and similar historical documents. There are also trials through May 25 of electronic reference books published by Routledge in education, history, literature, media and cultural studies, music, philosophy, politics and international relations, religion, and sociology. Several ongoing trials end soon.

LGBT Life Trial

All of CUNY has a trial of LGBT Life through May 23. The database provides text from more than 120 lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transsexual journals, magazines, and regional newspapers, as well as more than 150 books. Several other ongoing database trials will end soon.
