CUNY’s Palgrave Connect holdings has grown from 2,740 to 4,005 scholarly electronic books published from 2010 to the present.

Palgrave Connect Business and Management includes 447 titles.

Palgrave Connect Economics and Finance includes 372 titles.

Palgrave Connect Education includes 164 titles.

Palgrave Connect History includes 515 titles.

Palgrave Connect Language and Linguistics includes 107 titles.

Palgrave Connect Literature includes 608 titles.

Palgrave Connect Media and Culture includes 266 titles.

Palgrave Connect Political and International Studies includes 732 titles.

Palgrave Connect Religion and Philosophy includes 225 titles.

Palgrave Connect Social Sciences includes 440 titles.

Palgrave Connect Theatre and Performance includes 129 titles.

Palgrave Connect search results will include pre-2010 titles to which CUNY does not have access.

Restoration of Web Services

Thanks to the incredible diligence, over this past weekend, of the Graduate Center IT staff, all library web services (website and remote access (proxy service) to databases) has returned to normal. The library staff apologizes for the outage and hopes that it was not too much of an inconvenience. Thank you for your patience.

Remote Access to Databases is Currently Unavailable

Because of an IT outage, the proxy service which allows for remote access to databases is currently unavailable. IT and the Mina Rees Library will try and restore as soon as possible, but while this service is still out you can remotely access many databases, using your library barcode, from the central CUNY Office of Library Services site at: http://www.cuny.edu/libraries/j-and-r.html

New Digital Collections

As of June 3, all of CUNY subscribes to two new digital collections. Nineteenth Century Collections Online offers primary sources dealing with East-West diplomacy; British politics and society; British theater, music, and literature; European literature; photography; science, technology, and medicine; and the status of women. Slavery and Anti-Slavery consists of books, pamphlets, periodicals, manuscripts, Supreme Court records, and other nineteenth-century materials related to slavery and abolition.

Times Literary Supplement

The Graduate Center subscribes to Times Literary Supplement Historical Archive 1902-2008. This resource includes every issue of TLS from 1902 through 2008. In addition to searching, the database may be browsed by book title, author, book editor, translator, contributor (reviewer, essayist), and illustrator of contributions. The latest issues of TLS are available in the library in print. Issues after 2008 are available on microfilm.

Routledge Reference Collection

Routledge History Online includes Encyclopedia of the Ancient World, Historical Dictionary of the Elizabethan World, and Political and Historical Encyclopedia of Women.

Routledge Literature Online includes Encyclopedia of Life Writing Autobiographical and Biographical Forms, The Gay and Lesbian Literary Heritage, and Routledge Encyclopedia of Narrative Theory.

Routledge Media and Cultural Studies Online includes Encyclopedia of Modern Jewish Culture, Routledge Companion to Research in the Arts, and Bfi Film Classics, offering 37 volumes on such films as Das Cabinet des Dr. Caligari, Double Indemnity, and Annie Hall.

Routledge Music Online includes Chamber Music: A Research and Information Guide, Piano: An Encyclopedia, and Tin Pan Alley: An Encyclopedia of the Golden Age of American Song.

Routledge Politics and International Relations Online includes A Dictionary of Globalization, Fifty Major Political Thinkers, and The Terrorism Reader.

Routledge Religion Online includes Encyclopedia of African American Religions, The Islamic World, and A Popular Dictionary of Paganism.

Routledge Sociology Online includes Encyclopedia of the City, Handbook of Contemporary European Social Theory, and Reader’s Guide to Women’s Studies.

LGBT Thought and Culture

The Graduate Center has a trial through July 17 to LGBT Thought and Culture, a collection of books, periodicals, and archival materials documenting LGBT political, social and cultural movements. Documents range from letters, speeches, interviews, and ephemera covering the political evolution of gay rights as well as memoirs, biographies, poetry, letters and works of fiction that illuminate the lives of lesbians, gays, transgendered, and bisexual individuals.

GC Database Access Problems and Solutions

We have experienced instability in the GC EZProxy server since May 23, for reasons not yet determined or resolved. Should your attempt to connect to GC Databases fail, try using the CUNY Proxy Server for access to CUNY-wide databases. Use your 14-digit CUNY library barcode number as the login and pwd. Or login to Citrix and access the Library Resources folder and then launch the Library Databases Internet Explorer Icon and you will be presented with an A-Z list of our databases without any need to use EZproxy.
