The Graduate Center Library’s proxy bookmarklet allows off-site users to transform a URL for an article or other work into a URL that attempts to access the work through the library’s proxy server.

Bookmarklet link: GC Proxify

To add the bookmarklet to your browser:

  • Drag the GC Proxify link to your bookmarks bar, or
  • Right-click the GC Proxify link and add it to your bookmarks

If you use Safari, you may have to replace the bookmarklet’s link to read:
javascript:void(location.href=”http://ezproxy.gc.cuny.edu/login?url=”+location.href)

Using the bookmarklet: Click the bookmarklet when you are on a web page for a work you would like to access. If you have not yet signed in with your library credentials, you will be prompted to do so. Then, if the library provides access to the full text of the work via the site you were on (e.g., the publisher’s website), you will gain access to the full text. If you do not gain access, this means the library does not provide access via that site.

Other methods of access: If the work you seek is from a journal, check the library’s Journal Finder to see if the library provides access through a different site (e.g., a database). If the work you seek is not from a journal, search OneSearch instead. If the library does not have access to the work, you can request it through Interlibrary Loan. Requested articles are delivered electronically, often within a day.
