There are many ways to get help from a librarian. Choose the method that suits your needs:

Submit a question

Use our question submission form to email a reference librarian. Answers will be sent during Reference Desk hours.

Visit the reference desk

The 2nd floor Reference Desk is staffed by librarians to provide research assistance on a drop-in basis. No appointment necessary.

Schedule a consultation

Schedule a one-on-one research consultation with your subject librarian by filling out the appointment request form.

Suggest materials

Have a suggestion for our collection? We welcome suggestions for books and other materials.

Chat with a librarian

Our online chat service is available 24/7 and will be answered by a CUNY librarian, if available. During late-night hours, an academic librarian from one of our partner libraries may assist you.

Request a Class Visit

Invite a librarian to visit your class for an instruction session to introduce library research, demonstrate specific databases and tools, and help students hone their search techniques.
