GC Network

Use GC network credentials to log in to GC computers and to print at the GC for free. GC network and credentials are managed by GC IT with a self-service password reset.

Temporary GC guest accounts are issued by GC Library Reference and Circulation staff for on-campus access to GC Library computers and for GC Library paid printing.

School of Labor and Urban Studies (SLU) affiliates use a CUNY emplID and a SLU IT-issued password to access the GC network.

GC Library Databases + Interlibrary Loan

Use GC network credentials for off-campus access to the full set of GC databases and journals for access to GC Interlibrary Loan. ILL login is triggered by catalog and database searches or by requesting books, articles, and book chapters directly.

GC Email

Student Office 365 email (@gradcenter.cuny.edu) requires credentials different from GC network credentials. GC IT issues both sets of credentials at student registration. Register for Office 365 self-service password reset or reset your password.

Faculty and staff use Microsoft Exchange/Outlook Web Access email (@gc.cuny.edu) with GC network credentials, managed by GC IT with a self-service password reset.

GC’s password resets, SharePoint storage, Blackboard course management, HR time and leave (via Banner) all connect through the GC Portal. From there, GC students and faculty can also download free Microsoft Office software.

CUNY Libraries: Request and Renew Books

OneSearch and the Classic CUNY Catalog call for a 14-digit CUNY library barcode number and PIN to request titles and to renew books from CUNY libraries. Use the GC’s Renew Items form or contact circ@gc.cuny.edu if there are problems.

CUNY-wide Library Databases

CUNY libraries purchase a core set of databases and journals shared by all CUNY libraries. Use the 14-digit library barcode number on your CUNY photo ID to reach them. Get a barcode for a library account at your home CUNY Library Circulation Desk.

Commercial Database Personal Accounts

JSTOR, Web of Science, EBSCO and other licensed databases invite users to create personal accounts to view search history, to save citations, to create alerts. The data from these accounts are managed by the vendors, not by the GC or CUNY libraries.

CUNYFirst: Student Registration

CUNYfirst organizes student registration, student financial aid, grades, and selected HR tools. It is created upon registration. CUNYFirst provides the unique CUNY emplID identifier number.

CUNY Academic Works

CUNY’s open access institutional repository is governed by the GC Library with CUNY Office of Library Services (OLS). Current GC affiliates may submit work to the Graduate Center section of Academic Works.

CUNY Portal

The CUNY Portal offers the CUNY Alert (campus closings and emergency notifications) and discounted software, entertainment, and merchant services through CUNY eMall. It connects to CUNY-wide student services and events. Login with CUNYFirst credentials to create a new password.

CUNY Virtual Desktop

CUNY Virtual Desktop app download requires a CUNYFirst login for off-campus access to CUNY-licensed software ArcGIS, SPSS, SAS, Mathematica, Maplesoft, and Matlab.

CUNY Academic Commons

CUNY Academic Commons is a platform for faculty, student, and interaction developed by GC Digital Initiatives. Use a GC student or faculty email address to create a profile, to join or create groups, or to host a blog.

OpenCUNY is a “participatory digital medium” for student web sites managed by and for GC students. It requires a GC student email address for login.
